The value for a trademark registration application is set annually by the SIC, a government entity that establishes the applicable official fees for industrial property in Colombia.
The current cost (official online fees) of a trademark registration application in Colombia is as follows:
- Trademark registration application (first or only class) $1.219.000 (Colombian pesos) (USD 322 Aprox.).
- Trademark registration application (additional class in the same application) $609.500 (Colombian pesos) (USD 161 Aprox.).
Based on the foregoing, each class of products or services to be protected is subject to the payment of official fees to the SIC. Therefore, the greater the protection, the greater the investment.
In addition to the above, the entrepreneur must pay the professional fees of the attorney that he selects to handle the registration process of his trademark, which will depend on his experience in intellectual property law.
